Baltimore's Fireboats

..In 1971-1972 Baltimore City took delivery of their first rearmount trucks when four of these American LaFrance 100 footers were placed in service. They were powered by Detroit 6-71 diesels, and were the first trucks to have automatic transmissions, including built in hydraulic retarder. They were also the last trucks to have the traditional Baltimore red and white paint scheme, and the last to be equipped with a bell. They were assigned to Truck Companies 11, 14, 24, and 26. In 1977, 11's was reassigned to Truck 25. Pictured is Truck 24, a 1971 model.
