Baltimore's Fireboats

..On August 15, 1941, the Baltimore City Fire Department placed this American LaFrance 500 series squad body rescue truck in service with Engine Co. 1 (the rescue squad company). In addition to rescue tools, the wagon was equipped with a monitor pipe, 500 feet of 2 1/2" hose, a booster pump with 250 feet of 3/4" line, and a 100 gallon tank. It remained in first line service for 9 years, and served as a reserve into the 1960's.



..On October 25, 1950, the Baltimore City Fire Department placed this Mack/Approved rescue truck in service with Engine Co. 1 (the rescue squad company). In addition to rescue tools, the truck had a booster pump, with 100 gallon tank, and 250' of 3/4" hose on a reel at the back step. It served in first line for 23 years until replaced in 1973. It remained with the company as a reserve until the mid 1980's when it was disposed of.



..In 1973 the Baltimore City Fire Department placed this Mack Model MB/Swab heavy rescue unit in service with Rescue Co. 1. It was diesel powered with a standard transmission. With a little rehab work, it served twenty years in first line service. It did not go into reserve, and was sold.
