..On September 16, 1956, the first new Fireboat to be built for the City in 35 years, the “Mayor Thomas D’Alesandro, Jr.”, was placed in active service with Engine Company 49 at Curtis Bay.
..A careful examination of all four of the City’s Fireboats was made and it was determined that the steam Fireboat “Torrent” was the least desirable to retain in terms of high operational costs and pending repairs needed.
..With the decommissioning of Torrent, the Fireboat Cascade was reassigned to Engine Co. 48 at Pier 3, Lower Canton.
..On October 28, 1960, the new Fireboat "August Emrich" was placed in service by Engine Co. 48. At that time the Cascade was decommissioned, and delivered to the Montford Yard on Boston Street. Disposition of the boat unknown.
